Headquarters in St Louis

First, I'll create the home city. St Louis, on the banks of the muddy Mississippi:

The HQ will consist of a five story building, and a two story annex:

And the wiring closets in each building:

The CEO/President's office:

And his executive assistant:

And the rest of floor 1, such as vice president, CFO, and the other executives and their assistants. I'm also going to start setting out the workstations, printers, and whatever other end devices we will need:

A model network?

This will be a blog about setting up a model computer network and running it. The title of the blog was taken from model railroads, which come in different scales, with HO being the most popular. I will be using a network simulator to create it, which will allow me the freedom to create a large enterprise network that I normally would not be able to do with a real home lab or, obviously, at my work place.

My intent is to create an enterprise-size network from the ground up, with multiple headquarters and branch locations, and see how it runs and what it takes. The fictional company will be named "JimBo, Inc.", named after my late father, and will be a pharmaceutical research company. This will give me an excuse have a company with lots of branch offices, different departments like marketing and research, and lots of opportunity to get all the employees up and running on their end devices.

The main headquarters will be located in St. Louis, MO, and the secondary headquarters will be in Philadelphia, PA.There will be smaller branch offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. The simulator will almost certainly not be able to handle thousands of employees, so I will have to bump the numbers down a bit.

OK, let's get started!
